克林顿国务卿敬启：
谢谢您在国务院展示的富有激情的领导才能，也谢谢您对弱势群体所给予的关心以及赋予他们的权力。我们对在2009年被判15年监禁的中国维族人士阿里木江∙依米提(又称Alimjan Yimit) 的案子深切关心。在历史上这块充满宗教和种族紧张关系的地区，阿里木江∙依米提（又称阿里木）是一位和平与和解的领袖。
阿里木的律师李柏光博士是美国国家民主基金会2008年度民主奖的获得人。李柏光说阿里木的判决是十年来宗教迫害上最严重的一个案子。对阿里木惊人的判决以及他受到了残酷对待是当局对他所选择的信仰和他的种族地位的反应。对他的判决违反了中国宪法中规定所有中国公民均享有宗教自由的第36条。此外，新疆法庭采取的非法行动、重复起诉的秘密审判、重判以及对阿里木律师的骚扰均违反了中国的法律以及中华人民共和国签署的【世界人权宣言】以及【国际公民权利和政治权利公约】。
在这次人权对话前夕之际，我们请求您在讨论中做一次公开声明并提出他的案子来表示对阿里木案件的深切关心。我们也请求您敦促中国领导人坚持他们已经签署的永恒公正原则以及在宗教自由问题上的国际惯例，并且敦促他们立即采取行动审查这个案子，考虑到这案子完全缺乏有关令人信服的证据，释放阿里木并恢复他所有的中国公民应享受的权利。
我们期望在这次大家盼望已久的人权对话能取得一些实际的成果，为了取得这个目标我们敦促您在阿里木江∙依米提的案子上做一次公开声明。
